Hearty Truffles | The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I'm finally posting more of my "Breath of the Wild" recipes (I have a slew that need to go up)! I thought these yummy chocolates might be good to share for the holidays because they are very gift-able/shareable. :) In-game of course, the hearty truffles are mushrooms, just like their counterparts in the real world which are fancy-schmancy, but I wanted to do something fun and simple and easily party-able, so I went the decadent chocolate ganache route of truffle (named thus because they are rich and special and shaped like the mushrooms).
I wanted to get the real-world mushroom truffle look with these treats; bumpy and earthy and the right color, and as I was experimenting and comparing to truffle photographs, my daughter gave me some good input which produced the result you see here. She is a good helper and tester. :)

"This rare mushroom has a rich scent. Cook it before eating to temporarily increase your maximum hearts."
– In-game description, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"

Note: The only cooking you'll need to do for these truffles is warming some cream. ;)
I wanted to keep these simple in both ingredients and design, but if you'd like to match them more closely to the game version, feel free to make indentations around their sides with something like the back of a butter knife (they kind of look like little pumpkins in-game) and put a little disc of chocolate on their tops (this could be done using the truffle chocolate or a chocolate candy).

Hearty Truffles

Ingredients:
1 ⅓ Cup (approx. 8 oz.) Semisweet Chocolate Chips
½ Cup Heavy Cream
1 Cup Fine Chocolate Cookie Crumbs
¼ Cup Chocolate Sprinkles

Directions:
Line a large tray with plastic wrap. Put the chocolate chips into a large bowl and set aside until needed.

In a pot on medium heat bring the cream to a low simmer; you'll know it's ready when there are bubbles around the edges.

Pour the hot cream into the bowl of chocolate chips and let it sit undisturbed for about a minute, and then stir vigorously until the chocolate is melted and smooth and the cream is fully incorporated.

Pour the chocolate onto the plastic-lined tray and spread it out. Lightly cover it with another piece of plastic wrap and let it sit on the counter overnight to firm up.

In a small bowl, mix the chocolate cookie crumbs with the chocolate sprinkles. With cold hands roll pieces of the solidified chocolate into 1” balls and roll each ball into the crumb/sprinkle mixture.

Place the balls back on the tray and chill for about 15 minutes before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Enjoy! The rich yumminess is sure to increase your hearts! ❤️❤️❤️
