Mini Philly Cheesesteaks from "Supernatural"

Dean is by far my favorite character (followed by Cas) on the show "Supernatural" because he exudes personality and quirk. He's the lovable tough guy and though he is in great shape he loves to eat (and drink). Aside from making him more endearing, as the seasons progress Dean's munchiness also serves to show how human he is--conflicted, compassionate, and wanting the comfort of good/tasty food--in the face of so much inhuman goings-on.
Dean is holding, sometimes clutching, to those things that anchor him down and remind him that he is alive (and a human being). Sometimes it's the bond with his brother (though that gets shaky at times), sometimes it's women, sometimes it's beer, and sometimes it's a dripping cheeseburger. Or a fruit pie. Or a sadly Leviathan tampered turducken sandwich. Add to this list scrumptious mini Philly cheesesteaks from the episode "Hollywood Babylon" (2007, season 2, episode 18).
While investigating murders and ghost sightings undercover as a production assistant on the set of a horror movie, Dean finds these little loves on the catered food table for the staff and promptly falls head over heels for them.
Sam: So what do you think?
Dean: Well, I think being a PA sucks, but the food these people get? Are you kidding me? I mean, look at these things, they're like miniature Philly cheese steak sandwiches, they're delicious!
[holds one out to Sam who makes a poopie face]
Sam: Maybe later.
--"Hollywood Babylon", s. 2 ep. 18

Oh, Sam. You're totally missing out.

Note: The recipe below includes onions, green peppers, and a little minced garlic but you can totally make Philly cheesesteaks with just meat and cheese. You can even use Cheese Whiz instead of provolone slices--simply put the cheese directly on the bread and then add the meat!

Dean's Mini Philly Cheesesteaks

Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. Canola or Olive Oil
1 Onion, thinly sliced
1 Green Pepper, thinly sliced
2 tsp. Minced Garlic
Salt & Pepper to taste
Steak-EZE Thin Sliced Beef Steaks or very thinly sliced steak
1 pkg. Provolone Cheese Slices, cut in half
Mini Dinner Rolls (long, not round), cut in half sandwich-like
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion & green pepper slices & cook until tender. Add the minced garlic along with the salt & pepper to taste. Push the mixture to the side of the pan.
2. Place the Steak-EZE steaks in the same pan & cook as directed. Combine with the onion & green pepper slices & turn the heat to medium low.
3. Separate the meat mixture into small mounds, each about an imaginary palm-sized amount, & place a 1/2 slice of provolone cheese on each. Let the cheese melt into the mixture & then carefully flip the mounds over & add another 1/2 slice onto each.
4. Once the cheese is sufficiently melted scoop the mounds onto the waiting bottoms of the mini dinner rolls & then place the bread tops on. Savor like each bite could be your last. Especially if you're investigating ghostly murders. Makes about 10 little sandwiches.
